You always hope you’ll never need it, but when an emergency strikes, every second counts: first aid. At gbc, the safety of every individual is of the utmost importance to us. After all, a healthy and well-trained team is the foundation for excellent service and innovative advertising solutions. That’s why we invited our team to an intensive first-aid course two weeks ago. Our goal: for everyone to feel safe and be able to act confidently in an emergency, whether at work or in their personal lives.
An Interactive Start to Emergency Training
The day was anything but a dry, theoretical session. Our dedicated instructor immediately managed to put everyone at ease. We started with a playful icebreaker where we had to correctly arrange the sequence of first-aid steps. A great way to refresh our knowledge and break the ice at the same time!
Practice Over Theory: Learning Life-Saving Techniques
Then it was time for the practical part. We not only learned the basics of first aid but also got hands-on. Every technique was demonstrated, practiced, and corrected:
- Assessing Level of Consciousness: How to correctly assess a person’s condition.
- Applying Bandages: The correct way to apply various types of bandages.
- Recovery Position: When and how to apply it correctly.
- Chest Compressions & Mouth-to-Mouth Resuscitation: Life-saving measures that were practiced extensively on manikins.
- Using a defibrillator: A detailed explanation and simulation to reduce hesitation.
Things really came to life during the group exercises. Here, we were presented with various emergency situations and had to work together to figure out the best way to respond. These simulations helped us internalize what we’d learned and overcome our fear of facing a real emergency.
Prepared for everyday life: Tips for Every Situation
To wrap things up, we received many practical tips for dealing with everyday mishaps and hazards. Among other things, we discussed how to respond to heatstroke, burns, or frostbite, as well as the quick and correct steps to take if chemical substances come into contact with the skin or eyes. Every question was answered, and afterward, we felt much more confident in handling such situations.
